Questex is currently seeking a Content Director to direct the development of the American Salon content calendar, all content creation, editorial and content delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Developing a content strategy in collaboration with the Group President and Market Leader and directly responsible for producing and contracting content that fulfills the mission of said content strategy
  • Promoting and delivering the content topics that are most important to the market and maintaining the featured topics
  • Creating a plan to execute on these featured topics and the topics that fall within each to align the content being delivered with the context of the delivery product (articles, whitepapers, reports, surveys, etc.)
  • Supporting the sales team in achieving their sales goals and matching advertisers and sponsors with our core audience – with participation in sales calls as needed, working with clients as needed.
  • Management of the group’s advisory board relationships, relations with key industry associations, professional and trade groups and representing the group externally among such organizations;
  • In collaboration with group management, organizing the advisory board meetings and engages as an active participant to solicit advisory board input into developing the content calendar.
  • Conferring with senior management and performing other projects as assigned.
  • Be the face of Questex American Salon / Beauty to the industry including attending industry events, competitive events as required or budgeted for.
  • Create, maintain and update the American Salon website content including:
    • Creation and distribution of newsletters
    • Posting current stories on website weekly to include:
    • Industry articles and features
    • in-depth stories/reports (800 words)
    • short news pieces (300-400 words)
    • How-To Videos, Stories
    • additional articles, based on the needs of the group
  • Hiring and managing freelance writers when needed and within budget
  • Hosting and interviewing guests for the podcasts
  • Some travel required, some event participation including evenings required.
  • Close collaboration with sales team to communicate and leverage sales opportunities
  • Close collaboration with marketing team to monitoring performance of articles on website, newsletters engagement and subscriptions
  • Share statistics, analysis of database, page viewers, audience with management as needed in reporting.
  • Participation in Questex Wellness and Beauty events (moderating panels, introducing speakers, interviews) when required

Requirements

  • College degree or higher and minimum 4 years’ experience in editorial, journalism and publishing including digital media.
  • Knowledge of beauty/hair B2B industry; strong analytical skills to get behind the numbers and fluff of corporate press releases
  • Establishes and communicates a clear and common vision of the desired future state of the group.
  • Understands issues relevant to the organization’s/group’s market and industry
  • Meets and exceeds challenging business goals that reflect key strategic and customer focused priorities and leads direct and indirect reporting team members to achievement.
  • Listens to and understands internal/external customers and supplier expectations, needs and wants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills needed
  • Travel during peak event periods and routine travel to client sites and other industry events as required.
