Colby is seeking a content marketing manager to join Colby’s Communications Office. Reporting to the director of project management, the content marketing manager will help drive forward communications regarding Advancement initiatives by implementing a wide range of marketing efforts.

The content marketing manager will have the ability to craft compelling, innovative content and support the implementation of multi-channel marketing plans that drive results in a frequently changing environment. The successful candidate will have a facility with digital marking tools, and an eye on evolving technologies and disruptive trends. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the content strategy, including development and implementation, for Advancement Communications on the Alumni website, Alumni social media channels relevant to an external audience including donors, alumni, parents, volunteers, and friends
  • In collaboration with the Advancement team, drive the creation of differentiated messaging that supports focus areas and key themes and strategically relevant messaging concepts
  • Serve as the primary liaison with Advancement to advance department initiatives and attend Advancement internal meetings
  • Write and edit content for a variety of projects that could include social media posts, website content such as alumni profiles and feature stories, advertisements, presentations, slide shows and lead the project management of video, digital, web and social media initiatives
  • Work with editorial director and senior director of digital on planning the Advancement editorial and social media calendars and to keep the Advancement website updated with new content and messaging
  • Provide creative direction and graphic design ideas for Advancement creative content and for presentations
  • Collaborate across teams to develop and drive storytelling opportunities
  • Use analytics to make data-driven decisions about content, platform, segments, and cadence

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education and experience; coursework in marketing, strategic communications, journalism, or related field a plus
  • Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in marketing, strategic communications, journalism, or a related field required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience writing for multiple platforms including print, email, web, and social media; experience with campaigns a plus
  • Digital marketing experience required, including the use of web content management systems (WordPress), website metrics systems (Siteimprove), email platforms (Mailchimp), project management tools (Asana), and social media tools (Brandwatch)
  • Ability to think creatively and be innovative in creating content
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple and varied tasks independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment required
  • Highly developed computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus Google Suite
  • Appreciation of Colby’s mission and the ability to effectively communicate it
  • Excellent grammar, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong aptitude for collaborating and creating with others
  • Must be able to work additional hours during busy periods, including evenings and weekends
