The Digital Content Specialist is responsible for creating, improving and maintaining content to achieve organizational goals. Duties will also include sharing content to raise brand awareness and monitoring web traffic and metrics to identify best practices. The ideal candidate will have strong copywriting skills and digital content marketing experience, serving both Shriners Children’s and Shriners International.

This role is pivotal in crafting compelling narratives and engaging digital content to achieve organizational objectives. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational abilities and extensive experience in planning and executing content strategies across various digital platforms.

This is a hybrid position based in the Tampa Bay area, with a mix of working remotely and working onsite at our Corporate Headquarters.

Plan and produce digital content as a content marketing digital journalist for Shriners Children’s and Shriners International.

  • Activities may include research, content production, copy writing, social media management, script writing, content distribution and promotion, proofreading, and updating website copy.
  • Create communication strategies for each audience segment (Shriners Children’s and Shriners International).
  • Manage content plan and content calendar, maintaining deadlines, collaboration requirements,assignments, publishing workflow and channel distribution.
  • Leverage storytelling with a full comprehension of all digital platforms to engage both audiences (fraternal and healthcare) across all major digital channels
  • Collaborates with Creative Services team to support content continuity across other mediums like our print publications and internal communications channels.

Copy Writing, Proofreading and Multimedia

  • Edit, proofread and improve writers’ posts
  • Edit and format content to adhere to proven online practices and brand standards
  • Identify and plan how to reformat content into different mediums for channel distribution. (e.g.. Determine when to convert an article to video or modify a long-form video for website/social media)

Collaborate and support digital media content. This includes our special events, such as the East-West Shrine Bowl, Shriners Children’s Open and Imperial Session.

  • Create supporting content marketing plans for events
  • On-site content creation and execution during events
  • Coordinate press releases and opportunities with influencers and media (TV, Radio, Print, and Online Publications)

Distribute press releases online, including digital pitching via social media

  • Create press releases and distribute them through appropriate channels and media contacts including PR Newswire/PR Web
  • Research and manage influencer marketing programs across digital channels
  • Measure and report the reach and impact of press releases and digital pitching efforts
  • Liaise with digital media correspondents, media and public fostering positive brand relationship
  • Measure results of digital press releases and digital media relations (influencer and other media representatives)

Optimize content according to Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

  • Analyze content performance metrics and user engagement using website, social media and media analytics platforms. (Google Analytics, Social Listening and Media Monitoring)
  • Identify new content categories for development based on target audience and analytics

Collaborate with marketing and design teams to plan and develop website content

  • Prepare content framework for medical conditions/treatment and ensures accuracy and compliance with medical affairs.
  • Manage the organization of content from different business units, hospitals and fraternal members
  • Assist in distributing execution plans and monitors project deadlines associated with website content, news releases, and social media calendars.
  • Support and collaborate with creative services copy writers and design team to distribute content across print and internal communications channels

Ensure compliance with law (e.g., copyright and data protection)

  • Validate medical content and manage the approval process of material before publishing.
  • Filter content through management as needed for the fraternal website, social media and publications to adhere to bylaws, ethics and standards.

Experience Required

  • Basic technical knowledge of HTML and web publishing required
  • Digital content marketing experience required
  • Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics required
  • Familiarity with social media required
  • 1 yr of MS Office applications experience required
  • Excellent writing skills, grammar and spelling in English language required
  • Organizational, attention to detail and time management skills

Education Required

  • Bachelor’s in Journalism, Marketing, or a related field required
