Western Colorado University is seeking a Marketing Content Strategist to join our Marketing Communications Team.

This role reports to the Director of Marketing and collaborates closely with various teams and departments to support brand consistency and effective communication strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver print, online, digital, social, and email marketing communications.
  • Create compelling written, video, and digital assets aligned with the Western brand, SEO, and social media goals.
  • Identify and interview members of the campus community for content related to research, artistry, student success, and community engagement.
  • Identify innovative channels and platforms for content distribution, including academic journals, news outlets, blogs, and more.
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Financial Aid, Orientation, Housing, and other campus partners to create and edit email content.
  • Implement a LinkedIn strategy to elevate the presence of Western alumni, employees, and students.
  • Promote the University to prospective students through recruitment communication products.
  • Ensure material production aligns with established guidelines.
  • Contribute to a culturally diverse work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Computing skills (Windows, Word, Excel, email, and Internet browsers).
  • Ability to plan and evaluate projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Strong writing and detail-oriented skills.
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings for important events.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience, degree, or studies in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations, higher education, liberal arts, or journalism.
  • Experience in digital marketing and/or social media campaign planning.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.
  • 1-5 years of professional experience in journalism, communications, marketing, and/or management.
  • Prior business, entrepreneurial, and/or organizational experience.

Compensation:

  • Annual base salary of $46,000-$53,000, dependent on experience (FLSA exempt).
